Sightseeing places of Cochin are:
In Mattanchery area of Fort Kochi, we can visit: Dutch
Palace, Jew Synagogue or Paradesi Synagogue, Jew Town/ antique shops/ Spice
Market, Jewish Cemetery, Jain Temple
Fort Kochi: Santa Cruz Basilica (Church), St.Francis Church
(where the remains of Vasco da Gama was originally buried, later shifted to
Portugal), near to St.Francis Church one can find the Parade Ground and the VOC
Gate, the Cochin Club situated opposite to the St. Francis Church,
Indo-Portuguese Museum, Chinese fishing nets and the Fort Kochi beach (where
famous Cochin Carvinal is conducted on New Year’s eve).
Marine Drive is a walkers’ paradise. It gives a view of the
lake and sea. Sunset can be enjoyed from here (or from Fort Kochi). There are
cruises that operate into the sea in the evening (around 5 p.m) and return
after sunset
Day 02
Cochin –Athirappilly-Munnar
Distance: cochin –Athirappilly = 75 KM
Distance: Athirappilly- Munnar =130 Km
Approx 4 hours drive
Pick up from Cochin proceed toAthirappilly on arrival visit Athirappilly
waterfalls spent few hrs then proceed to Munnar, the most adorned hill stations of
Kerala. It’s also known as the adobe of Neelakurunjies (a flower that blooms
once in 12 years).
Munnar is situated around 1600m above sea level in the
Western Ghats. You also get to witness the Cheeyapura waterfalls on your way.
On arrival check in to the hotel and go for a half-day of sightseeing.
Go for seeing Mattupetty dam and boating. A stroll across
Mattupetty Dam with a view of water gushing beneath and beautiful gigantic
mountains on either side would be a wonderful experience. The Shola forests
around Mattupetty is an ideal spot for trekking and bird watching. Then to Echo
point, Kundala Dam Return to Resort and spend the evening and night at the
Resort.
Day 03
Munnar local sightseeing
In the morning, after breakfast, we proceed for sightseeing
around the place.
The attractions are Eravikulam National Park(closed 29 Jan
to march end ), where you get to see the protected animal of the area, the
Nilgiri Thar, a variety of goat species.
Anamudi, the highest peak of western ghats is visible from the National
Park.
Tea plantations and Strawberry gardens, Hydel Park, KFDC
flower garden etc. are other attractions. There are many places for shopping in
Munnar. The major items sold are all types of spices, tea, coffee, nuts,
strawberry etc. We advise that be choosy while purchasing and be informed about
the normal prices in supermarkets in your city.
Please also take note that for covering all the places in
Munnar, you will have to proceed to Munnar in the morning itself of day one
in Munnar. Else, all places could not be covered for want of time; or you will
have to stay in Munnar for three days
Day 04
Munnar –Thekkady
Distance: 90 km
approx 03 hours drive
Morning checks out
from the hotel. Proceed the journey to Thekkady drive
through panoramic western ghat hills covered with spice plantations and an occasional view of waterfalls and streams. Throughout this journey, you can
enjoy different types of spice plantations like cardamom, vanilla, pepper,
cinnamon, clove etc. On arrival at Thekkady check in to the Hotel. Go for
Boating in Periyar Lake (optional) experience the mind-blowing view of calm
crystal clear Periyar Lake and Sanctuary. You may get a chance to see different
types of wild animals while boating. Overnight in the hotel.
Day 05
Thekkady - Alappuzha
Distance: 140 kms
Travel time:
4 hours approximate
After breakfast, check out from the Hotel and proceed to
Alappuzha
It is the best Backwater tourist destination in Kerala.
Fondly called the ‘Venice of the East. Blanketed with lush coconut palms,
Chinese nets and paddy fields, Alleppey is enchanting and receptive to tourists
all around the year.
On arrival, we check into the Houseboat then go boating
boat that passes across regions of Kuttanad; the only place in the world apart
from Holland where rice is cultivated well under the sea level. Enjoy the
enticing cuisine of the region. Overnight stay in the houseboat.
Day 06
Departure- Cochin

After breakfast check out from the hotel then proceed to
Cochin airport or Railway station for
departure. We may also visit Cochin sightseeing places if time permits.
